Tonight, I’m going over to Will’s house.
It will be the first time in three weeks, and the first time I’ve eaten dinner with his family since me, him, his mom and his dad went to Gerhard’s together.
But tonight will be different. Eating dinner with him, being at his home used to be so natural. I’m excited--I’m ecstatic. But at the same time, I feel confused, awkward, and nervous as hell.
For one thing, Will’s sister Rebecca is home from college. I’ve never actually met her before...Waved at her when Will pointed her out to me once, but I’ve never actually spoken to her. She’ll be coming with us to see the Golden Compass tonight. So will John (Will’s brother), I think. Her presence is one difference.
The other...well, I don’t think I need to point that one out.
I wonder how his family will treat me with this change. But I really, really feel like I need to speak with his dad at some point...That’s why I decided to go over for dinner. I need to see him and his entire family again, to remind myself that maybe everything is okay, and that he and his family are practically my second family. I need that reminder.
I also wonder if I’ll get a chance to talk to Will alone tonight...I have questions that need to be answered, and though I said before that I was going to wait to see how things went...Well, I need to /know/ some things that simply can’t wait anymore.
I’ll undoubtedly post how things went when I get back, but right now I need to go get ready to leave. x.x

Thing to do tomorrow while at home:
1. Talk to friends (particularly Emily and Nicola) without randomly getting distracted by people on the hall.
2. E-mail Carly.
3. Post a more extensive LJ entry.
4. Nab Guitar Hero from David.
5. Post class schedule.
College has been pretty good so far. I think my lack of LJ posts might attest to this, since I often post to complain or be upset. I've met some pretty cool people, so I think I've already got a pretty solid foundation for friendship. Everything has been going quite well so far.
I think the best things, though, have been seeing Will yesterday and then running into Mr. Barnet at Crossroads last night. I'm so glad to have friends and people I know in the area. I'm trying not to take it for granted. ...And I really appreciated that when I tried to thank Will for toughing out a few hours cooped up in my dorm, he insisted "You don't have to thank me. I came because I wanted to." x.x Little things like that help significantly with settling into college life.
I'll try to get some stuff done tomorrow. Stuff is pretty hectic right now because of orientation, but I'll have more online time once classes start and I get a routine figured out.
For now, though, I think I'll go to sleep.

As much as I would love to talk about my first day of college...moving in, orientation, etc.--I'm utterly exhausted. I think the limit of my strength will be to play Rune Factory till I'm ready to sleep. Things went well today, so there's really nothing to complain or whine about at this point.
...Something very adorable happened last night when I tried to go to bed, which I'd also like to talk about but barely have the energy to. Penny (who knows she is not allowed on my bed), knew something was up...She'd been depressed and clingy to me all day, which is odd behavior for her...I think she knew I was about to leave.
Last night, I found her in my bed, in my exact spot, right beneath my pillow, looking sad and forlorn. I felt so bed for her, I let her sleep with me...Which I have only ever done once before. She was so ecstatic that she had to smash herself against me as close as she could get, so that I was practically on the very edge of the bed...And then, after a few minutes of staying that way, she'd try to scoot even closer. So I had a very difficult time sleeping because of that, but it was still cute and pitiful. ;_; Poor little Penny.
So...I'm gonna lie down now. x.x And play Rune Factory.

I wonder if I'm ever going to get that Disney entry done...And if I'm ever going to get over this illness--by Thursday, preferrably.
Went shopping for dorm supplies today. I'm done buying everything except office supplies, which I'm going to get tomorrow. I just finished my summer reading book. ...So now I need to pack, write my essay, and possibly read the book a second time so it's fresh in my mind on Friday. I move into my dorm on Thursday...Squall's birthday. David starts high school tomorrow. So the summer is at its end, all too quickly.
I feel like there's still so much I have to do, but I have no more time left. I guess I'm excited about college, but I'm not ready for the summer to be over.

I guess I'll just save the enthusiastic, childlike "omg I <3 Disney!" talk until when I get back, although I'm a little...sad that I'm going to spend my energy mulling over events from today and the past week instead of anticipating going to my favorite place. But I missed my opportunity, and it's my fault.

So. Squall has had this game Half-Life 2 in her possession since her birthday two years ago because of a sudden, severe obsession, but has been unable to play it because of owning a terrible desktop and having a pathetic dial-up connection.
...And then Hal was born.
I spent two hours on Thursday installing this game, after two years of waiting to play it...and it is /so/ worth it. (Hal was designed with the specific intent of being able to run this game...and run it well. And it does.)
Admittedly, I've had the XBox version since Christmas of '05, but have simply chosen not to play it. The XBox version was like an entirely different game, it was so bad...And the PC version + Hal makes the XBox version seem primitive.
And omg, I love this game so much.
Of course, it's not Final Fantasy VIII or Resident Evil 4...but I think it stands a threat of kicking Final Fantasy X out of its third-place spot on my favorites list. I can understand why it's been called the 'greatest game ever made' because it really /is/ awesome.
I just got to Ravenholm a little while ago...That was where I'd ended up on my XBox version. So...It took me three days to get to the spot on the game that took me weeks to get to on the XBox version.
...I <3 my game and my laptop.
So...Enough gushing about the game till tomorrow.
Today, I saw the new Harry Potter movie...And, I admit, it was better than I thought it would be. (However, whoever told me that John Williams did the music lied. D: He didn't do the music. I was sorely disappointed). It wasn't enough to make me like the series or want to read the books, but I still enjoyed it a lot more than other movies I've seen this summer (i.e. Transformers). It was less teenage angst and more politics...And I did enjoy analyzing the politics in the movie. :3 I liked the movie more than the other ones so far.
...Otherwise, the day was spent feeling sickly, having a useless trip to Best Buy, and then coming home to do the usual video games/internet business.
Well...I'm sort of in a writing mood so I guess I'll leave now before I run out of time to get a few words in on my fanfic. (Although I think I'm just gonna go on to bed). ...I really don't want to go to church tomorrow. And I really hope that if I do get dragged to church tomorrow, that this will be the last time...Because next Sunday, I'll be at Magic Kingdom, and then shortly after that, I start college. Orientation is August 23, and parents are asked to leave for good at some point on Saturday...So basically, my parents aren't going to really be allowed to come pick me up from Converse on Sunday to drag me to church...And they're sure as hell not going to make me go any time after that. o_o; They might as well stop trying now.
Btw. Disney is on Friday. --FRIDAY. I can't believe it. I really need to get ready.

Today, coincidentally, both my glasses and my laptop arrived. ...And my new glasses are driving me crazy. x.x They’re so different from my old ones...and they’re not adjusted correctly, so they don’t fit well and keep sliding off the bridge of my nose. Also, because they’re shaped so much differently, it’s difficult to get used to seeing with them. x.o
My laptop is gorgeous...Sleek, black, and with all the specifications I wanted. :3 I rushed through the setup stuff (much of which I couldn’t finish anyway, since I don’t have an internet connection), but that’ll wait. Although there were many temptations to name my computer something fandom-related (primarily 'Leon'), I picked the name HAL. :D
...Despite knowing my intents beforehand, my parents tried to say stuff like “Your computer has a great processor...And it’ll stay that way as long as you don’t load it up with nonsense. >_> And by the way, we don’t want you installing a bunch of stuff until you get the virus protection from Converse.”
And, specifically from my mother: “If you want to install your game, do it without your father’s knowledge and when Will is around to help you.”
Well my laptop came preinstalled with Norton Antivirus already. Kthxbye. D: I can download AIM if I want to (MSN is preinstalled, which makes things a bit easier).
...And I can’t wait to see how it runs Half-Life 2. :3 Mmmm. <333
I went to training camp again tonight, and this time focused my efforts on getting pictures of David Carr. ...Unfortunately, I don’t know where the digital camera is, as my father was the last person with it, so I’ll just upload pictures and talk about it tomorrow.
But now, I'm going to try to go write...Using Word on my laptop. :3

| First Day of Panthers Training Camp |

Panthers training camp was the most crowded it has ever been. There was a ‘party’ tonight to kick off training camp. This ‘party’ consisted of a terrible no-name rock band, a bunch of food stands, and random booths that had no purpose and were quite useless except as a distraction for the masses so that we could get better seats. (The best booth was from the Hollywild Zoo, which brought a Panther for everyone to see. :3 He was asleep, and it was cuuute.)
I, however, did not go there for such distractions...I was on a mission to stalk Jake Delhomme. So we made our way to the offensive field, staked out some spots, and waited for the players to come. When all of them went to the defensive field for warm-up, almost everyone standing on the offensive side left...But we knew from past experiences not to do that, and ended up getting a spot at the front right where the running backs were practicing. :3 ...And I had a clear shot of Jake Delhomme without any interference.

I didn’t get to actually speak to him tonight, as I had hoped, since the place was a madhouse...The team’s popularity has steadily escalated ever since they went to the Super Bowl a few years ago, and now training camp is insane. We’re going back to some of the evening sessions, though, so I hope I’ll have an opportunity to get close enough to have my picture taken with him...And I also want a clear shot of David Carr.
Carr was our first-round draft pick for this year, and he is an -outstanding- quarterback, from what I can see so far. As my mother observed, “He’s got a gun.” --His passes were like bullets...His throws were in a flawless, tight spiral, with impressive accuracy and precision. Additionally, he can do all of this while being quick in the pocket...Which is something Jake doesn’t seem to be so good at anymore. x.x Both of my parents think that Carr will end up starting at some point, and that he’s posing a great threat to Jake. I don’t disagree with this, unfortunately...I just hope that Jake can improve before that happens, because Jake is my favorite. ;_; I don’t want Jake to have a year like last year...But I don’t want the team as a whole to have a year like last year either.
We’ll just have to wait and see how things go.
I saw some other important players...Julius Peppers, Steve Smith, John Kasay, Brad Hoover, Dan Morgan, etc. ...I won’t list them all out, because I saw a lot. :D; But overall, training camp was fun...I hope it’s better later on in the week...And not as crowded.
Football matters aside, I finally e-mailed Carly today, and had a terrible crisis when I realized how long it’s been since she e-mailed me that outline...And it took me this long to reply to it, and I have no excuse for it. x.x I just hope she’s not mad, because writing this fanfic means a lot to me. It’s very important. .../Very/ important.
Meanwhile, I need to work on my oneshot. I guess I’ll go do that now.

Today was a great deal more productive than yesterday. :3
Emily effectively made me work on my fanfic...I haven't actually written anything for it yet, but I brainstormed a lot, and developed the scene a good bit more. Now if I could just figure out how I'm going to deal with characterization and what the nature of Leon and Ada's mission is, I'll be good to go...Oh, and (most importantly) I need an opening sentence. x__x That's probably the hardest part.
But I'm going to say this right now so that you guys can stop me if I try to balk and shy away from this later--I AM going to write this fanfic.
I have an idea for once, and so I can't just let it go to waste...Even if it turns out horribly, at least it's writing and practicing and breaking my writer's block.
Emily and I talked on Skype for an hour and a half earlier. :3 It was much fun. Emily got past the Garrador. :D And for that, Emily, I congratulate you...Even though you have three Garradors left to battle later on in the game. And thanks for, uhh...helping me on my Converse form? xD
Panthers training camp starts tomorrow, so tomorrow is officially "Stalk Jake Delhomme Day." :3 I'm going to try my best to speak to him (which includes physically fighting off fanatic middle-aged men who have no courtesy and no sense of chivalry...'Ladies first' doesn't apply in the world of football). But Jake's a gentleman, at least, so if he comes along to sign autographs and greet fans, rest assured I will find a way to get close enough to him to at least say hi. I <3 him. :D
...Perhaps I'll have pictures of him to post tomorrow...Mmm. @__@
Ohh, by the way...Nicola gave me the link to the RE5 trailer today. :O! It -is- Chris! That trailer is...amazing. The game looks scary, intense...and sort of like RE4 except in Africa with Chris. I'm REALLY looking forward to it. @__@ I will buy a 360 just to play that game. I think that goes without saying.

I think the full realization just hit me, that in less than a month I'll be in college and I may never have a summer like this again...Staying up late, sleeping in as late as I want, sitting around doing nothing except talking on AIM and having nothing to really worry about. I’m really, extremely bored.
All the people I want to talk to have their away messages up, so I’ve just been sitting here sporadically reading Lovecraft and National Geographic, and playing Pokemon and Phoenix Wright.
Of course, I have no right to complain about boredom when there’re plenty of productive things I could be doing...Writing, mainly. I have done nothing related to fanfiction (no outline for the jointfic, no outline for my own fic, no working on that oneshot that I said that I was going to start last weekend), although I really should. My muse has not been kind. I used to not believe in writer’s block, but I’m quite convinced of its existence now. I’ve spent the past couple of days trying to write, and I find that it takes two hours just for me to write three paragraphs. It’s ridiculous. I really want to write...but I can never seem to make myself do it. And when I actually do write, I spend so much time over-analyzing sentence structure that I don’t get anywhere, and the writing eventually seems choppy and...unpleasant.
I wish I could write beautifully like my favorite fanfic author does. D: (All the more reason to work on that outline for the jointfic...but I have no ideas. When do I ever have ideas?)
So, uhh. I got to the Pokemon League. I really don’t think I’m strong enough to beat it, but there’s nowhere to train. Training takes eons in Victory Road. I don’t really know what to do.
...Panthers training camp starts this Saturday. <3 I’m excited about football season starting again, even though I think we’re going to be just as good as we were last year (aka not good). But I get to stalk Jake Delhomme for a few hours this Saturday, and that makes it worth it.
Also, Disney is exactly two weeks from today (Friday). I really need to start getting ready...See, that’s another thing I could be doing instead of sitting her being bored.
...And I still haven’t e-mailed my roommate back. ...Hmm. I can’t believe college starts in less than a month.

...Newly-released RE5 trailer screenshots. <3333 They are absolutely gorgeous...And I thought RE4 was pretty. This is even better...graphics-wise, at least (as a game, though, it’s probably not going to be better, because it lacks Leon and Ada).
Chris Redfield (I’m calling him Chris, even though I don’t think Capcom has made an official announcement yet, because I’m convinced that that’s Chris) is especially gorgeous. He makes Leon look kinda...scrawny. Although that’s no offense to Leon, because I happen to like his scrawniness much more than I like Chris’s...buff-ness. But this doesn’t change the fact that Chris Redfield has a gorgeous body, and there’re some gorgeous shots of his gorgeous body. :3 ...But Leon’s still prettier/cuter/more gorgeous.
I definitely had one of those fangirl moments earlier when I saw these...Although my enthusiasm might not be quite as apparent now, due to my current listless state. But now that’s there for whoever might enjoy seeing it. (Or in case I lose the link, somehow).
Well, that’s all I have to say. x.x I think I’m gonna go try to at least think of some fanfic stuff before I go to bed. Might as well take the opportunity, since I currently don’t have any distractions.

SURF MUSIC ON POKEMON. ARRGH. |

I decided today that I'm tired of using Gastrodon (even though I remember the exact place I was when my Shellos evolved...I was getting out of the car to do that four mile hike to Red Rock Falls. ...It's a good memory). So I went to the Sinnoh Pokedex on pokemon.com to find a new water Pokemon for my party, and found this lovely one called Milotic. I concluded immediately that this was the Pokemon I wanted.
And then I did a few hours of research to figure out how to get one of these. I've been looking for an...uncommon Pokemon to add to my party, and this seemed like a good idea. However, Milotic evolves from this Magikarp-esque fish called Feebas which is possibly the single most difficult to find Pokemon in the entire game.
So I spent (wasted) my entire day looking for this damn Pokemon...Which I still haven't found and which I continue to search for.
Now, to show you how difficult this is: Feebas is only in one area on the game--the basement of Mt. Coronet. You have to fish for it. However, Feebas only appears in four tiles out of the entire area of water. Additionally, there is only a 50% chance of hooking a Feebas in the four tiles, if you ever manage to find it. AND the placement of the four tiles to find Feebas resets itself and changes every day.
To make matters worse, once I actually get a Feebas, the only way I can get it to evolve into a Milotic is to max out its beauty stat with poffins. ...Which is, in my opinion, worse than training.
Let's list things that I could (should) be doing instead of looking for a Pokemon that has no benefits for me except limited entertainment and bragging rights:
1. Writing two paragraphs of a oneshot to keep Emily from stopping her RE4 playing.
2. Working on the outline for my jointfic and e-mailing Carly back.
3. Making a similar outline for my own big fanfic (whose mere 600 words I deleted the other day).
4. E-mailing my roommate.
5. Anything else productive, etc.
...But I'm going to get this Feebas. I am.
...I wonder if this is better or worse than spending (wasting) two days looking at random Phoenix Wright objections.
